Lou Sylvan is a Lincoln, Nebraska based artist who is inspired by the many purrsonalities of cats. They graduated from Wayne State College in 2018 and have been working with acrylic paint to capture the elusive feline expression ever since. They take inspiration from internet cat culture, where the antics of beloved pets are captured through photos, video clips, and memes. They also enjoy experimenting with shaped wood canvases, bringing to life various animals, food, or people with a flair for contrast and color. Their technique involves using bold brushstrokes and simple, vivid color palettes reminiscent of pop art. Each piece is meant to evoke whimsy and reflect one’s own range of emotion. Their art can also be found at the Clements Noyes Art Gallery in Lincoln.
