Born and raised in Virginia, ceramic artist Ellie Schwer has been making, building, and creating for as long as she can remember. After studying art at university in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she moved around the country—first to St. Louis, Missouri, then San Antonio, Texas, Indianapolis, Indiana, and finally Lincoln, Nebraska. At every step of her journey, she honed her skills, exploring new techniques and ideas while growing her practice. Founded in 2020, Quiver Creek Ceramics is a labor of love five years in the making. The name of the studio comes from “Quiver Creek Farm,” the title given to her forest- and field-filled childhood home in Virginia. Now, working out of her studio at Archway Studios in Lincoln, Nebraska, Ellie hand-crafts durable, unique ceramics on a pottery wheel using high quality stoneware clay. Each piece is thrown on a wheel and trimmed, handles are added, and then each piece is painted by hand and glazed and fried in a kiln. From mugs to dish sets and sink basins, light fixtures to sculptures, Ellie is constantly exploring and innovating with new techniques and styles. Each piece is dishwasher and microwave safe and is lead free.
